About the Role

Position Scope:

To assist the Late-Night Lead Coach through tasks related to coaching the Late-Night senior practice groups. This coach will assist by leading the champs practice group and other practices/groups as assigned. Collaboration with the other staff members and engagement with the full Sharks program (including age group programming and other senior groups) is expected.

Position Detail:

This is a part-time position up to 25 hours per week.

August May the schedule is Monday-Friday (5:00p-745p) and Saturday (7:00a-10:30a). Additional practice times may be assigned. Summer schedule times are 6-10:30AM with occasional afternoons. Attendance at competitions & staff meetings as scheduled.

Essential Functions:

Assist the Lead Late Night Senior Coach as needed. This includes on deck and administrative tasks, specifically leading the Champs group in line with the team-wide season plan and working with the National/National Prep coaches as needed
Collaborate with the head coach and other senior coaches on a seasonal plan that aligns the competitive focus of all student-athletes
Collaborate with Bolles Faculty and Staff across campus in the support of leading Bolles student-athletes
Include the development of interpersonal relationships (team) and the student-athlete as a whole person through honest and open communication and difficult conversations when necessary
Create a physically and emotionally safe environment at all team activities based on positive and professional relationships with student-athletes and families
Communicate professionally and regularly with student-athletes and families on both an interpersonal and group level
Maintain accurate records of attendance, practice logs, performances, and schedules
Engage in continuous professional development as a coach and mentor

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

All candidates must meet current USA Swimming coaching requirements to be a registered non-athlete. Candidates must have a history of professional behaviors consistent with USA Swimming, ASCA, NFHS, FINA, and FHSAA Regulations.

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required, or on track to graduate within the next calendar year

  • 2+ years of coaching and/or competitive swimming experience

  • Effective knowledge of digital productivity solutions (Microsoft Office) and communication tools (email, text, and social media) is required

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Professional writing, presentation, and communications skills required

  • Coaching and/or competitive swimming experience at a national or collegiate level strongly preferred

  • Coaching or education experience with 18 & under athletes is preferred

  • American Swim Coach Association registration and accreditation is preferred

  • Effective knowledge of swimming specific digital tools (Team Unify, Meet Manager) is preferred

The Bolles School Sharks is a USA Swimming club program operated by the School for the purpose of supporting the mission and vision of the Bolles School. The swimming programs include learn to swim, entry level competitive swimming, age group competitive programs (for Bolles and non- Bolles student-athletes), senior competitive programs (for Bolles and non-Bolles student-athletes), summer swim camp, and the Bolles Varsity swimming program. Bolles Sharks coaches are employees of the Bolles School and adhere to the policies and procedures of the Bolles School.

Within the Bolles swimming program, 9-12th grade athletes are designated as part of the senior program. Students that attend schools other than Bolles and swim at the later practice times are considered Late Night seniors. Within senior practice times are three practice groups; National, National Prep, and Champs. There are time standards to be placed in a group and each group has a coach assigned to lead the group.
